Haemorrhoids – Piles
Haemorrhoids are caused by too much pressure put on the veins in the rectum forcing blood to stretch and bulge the walls of the veins, sometimes rupturing them. Haemorrhoids are either inside the anus—internal—or under the skin around the anus—external.
Other causes
- Weakness in the walls of the veins in the anal area.
- Constipation is one of the most common causes for developing of haemorrhoids.
- Pregnancy,
- Significant overweight,
- Overeating,
- Heavy lifting,
- Acid/alkaline imbalance,
- Fatigue liver
- Vitamin B-6 deficiency.
- Sitting or standing in one position for long periods of time and lack of exercise can contribute
- to the development of haemorrhoid.
Some of the above mentioned conditions are not directly causing haemorrhoids, like e.g. acid/alkaline imbalance is causing weakness of the veins, and weak veins are more prone to develop haemorrhoids. Vitamin B-6 deficiency may produce fissures and cracking of the corners of the mouth.
How Common Are Haemorrhoids?
About a half of the population have haemorrhoids by age 50. Haemorrhoids are very common in both men and women. Women can develop haemorrhoids during pregnancy and after childbirth.
In some cases haemorrhoid can be caused by other diseases, such as liver cirrhosis.
