Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Social Anxiety (SAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Specific Phobia
Mar 19th, 2010 by Dr.Senthil Kumar

Anxiety
Anxiety disorder includes Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Social Anxiety (SAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Specific Phobia.

Panic attack occurs any time and strikes you without warning or sign, makes your life miserable and seriously affects the sufferer’s social life.

Do you have an anxiety disorder? If you identify with several of the following signs and symptoms, and they just won’t go away, you may be suffering from an anxiety disorder.

  • Are you constantly tense, worried, or on edge?
  • Does your anxiety interfere with your work, school, or family responsibilities?
  • Are you plagued by fears that you know are irrational, but can’t shake?
  • Do you believe that something bad will happen if certain things aren’t done a certain way?
  • Do you avoid everyday situations or activities because they make you anxious?
  • Do you experience sudden, unexpected attacks of heart-pounding panic?
  • Do you feel like danger and catastrophe are around every corner?

Types of Anxiety Disorders
The most common anxiety disorders are phobias, generalized anxiety, panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Phobias are characterized by an intense, almost paralyzing fear centering on a specific situation or object. Virtually everyone can think of something that evokes a visceral response akin to fear, but phobias go far beyond what is normal or rational.

Generalized Anxiety may involve specific situations, issues or objects. Many with this problem weave a web of excessive worry that encompasses a wide range of everyday situations, many of them quite trivial. In generalized anxiety, the fears are more pervasive and less easy to plan around than are those associated with phobias.

Panic Disorder. Panic attacks are characterized by a sudden rush of fear, usually accompanied by a pounding heart, shortness of breath, a choking or suffocating sensation or other physical symptoms. They often occur in response to a stressful situation or during a period of chronic emotional stress. Attacks can occur in the most familiar and seemingly non-threatening settings, at the grocery store, in church or while driving along a familiar road. Suffers often describe a feeling of unreality during the attack.

Someone experiencing a panic attack may feel on the verge of losing control, going crazy or even dying; he or she may suddenly start screaming, run away or otherwise create a scene. In most instances, the feelings pass within a few moments. Proper diagnosis is critical. Many sufferers of panic disorder are convinced they have heart disease because of the pounding heart and choking sensations. They may drift from one doctor to another, being reassured that their hearts are fine but never getting to the root of their problem.

Obsessive-Compulsive. Individuals with obsessive-compulsive disorder are plagued by uncertainty, manifested in obsessions (persistent unwanted thoughts or impulses) and compulsions (senseless rituals performed either to prevent or bring about a future event).

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder has gained recognition in recent years because of its emergence in many Vietnam veterans. Victims tend to relive over and over a particularly painful or stressful situation and often have nightmares about the event. Rape, beatings, incest, sexual abuse and catastrophic accidents can also trigger the disorder.

Emotional symptoms of anxiety In addition to the primary symptoms of irrational and excessive fear and worry,
other common emotional symptoms of anxiety include:

  • Feelings of apprehension or dread
  • Trouble concentrating
  • Feeling tense and jumpy
  • Anticipating the worst
  • Irritability
  • Restlessness
  • Watching for signs of danger
  • Feeling like your mind’s gone blank

Physical symptoms of anxiety
Common physical symptoms of
anxiety include:

  • Pounding heart
  • Sweating
  • Stomach upset or dizziness
  • Frequent urination or diarrhoea
  • Shortness of breath
  • Tremors and twitches
  • Muscle tension
  • Headaches
  • Fatigue
  • Insomnia

Symptoms of an anxiety attack include:

  • Surge of overwhelming panic
  • Feeling of losing control or going crazy
  • Heart palpitations or chest pain
  • Feeling like you’re going to pass out
  • Trouble breathing or choking sensation
  • Hyperventilation
  • Hot flashes or chills
  • Trembling or shaking
  • Nausea or stomach cramps
  • Feeling detached or unreal

Health Tips

27 OF THE BEST HEALTH “TIPS”

1. How to fight aging

Did you know that just walking for 30 minutes, 3 or 4 times a Week is enough to combat aging?
According to researchers at the University of California, one of The principle causes of deterioration of the human organism’s physical Faculties are its diminished ability to metabolize glucose. And they Showed that even leisurely exercise, like taking a walk, plays an Important role in keeping glucose metabolism functioning smoothly. Do you spend the whole day sitting at your desk or in front of a Computer screen? Why not get up occasionally and do a few minutes Of physical exercise? Doesn’t worry about what other people think? In some Japanese companies, it is even become a collective Habit. Every twenty minutes a bell sounds, and everybody gets up to Do some stretching exercises, after which they sit down again as if Nothing had happened. Japanese managers are convinced that their
Employees are more productive when they are relaxed.

2. Are you anxious?

Is worrying one of your characteristics? Well, stop! It is okay to Worry, but at the right time. Psychologists at the University of Pennsylvania tell patients who suffer from anxiety to regularly do a daily twenty minute “worry session,” always at the same time and in the same place. Collect your head full of worries during the day (don’t suppress them!) and then pour them out during your daily worry session. Exaggerate your worries to the point of absurdity – knit your brows, make faces, let the sweat flow, shake and cower as much as you like. In other words, make a caricature of the part of yourself that is always worried, and in so doing exorcise it. Eliminating worry will help prevent numerous psychosomatic illnesses, which result from living in a state of permanent anxiety.

3. Care for your heart while you sleep

In which position do you sleep?
If you sleep on your stomach or on your left side, you are putting pressure on your heart with the extra body weight, while the heart has to continue pumping blood as usual. This additional burden wears the heart out more quickly. Think about it – you spend more than one third of your life sleeping! To reduce the strain on your heart, sleep on your right side, or on your back. This simple technique will add years to your life.

4. How to avoid cancer caused by smoking

If you smoke, you can greatly reduce the risk of contracting cancer by drinking carrot juice. This according to the German Doctor Hans Nieper, founder of Eumatabolic Medicine, a new alternative mode of treatment which has become very popular in Germany. The carotene found especially in carrots prevents and can even cure cancer. Dr. Nieper states, “If you smoke 60 cigarettes a day but drink 4 glasses of carrot juice, you will still be less prone to contract cancer than someone who doesn’t smoke but who doesn’t drink carrot juice.” Of course, if you don’t smoke and do drink carrot juice all the better!

5. Avoid eye problems caused by T.V. and monitors

The eye was not made to be constantly focused on close objects. If your work requires that you stare at a computer screen all day long or if you watch a lot of television, stop from time to time to do a few eye exercises. For example, roll your eyes in large circles in both directions; look over to each side as far as possible and then go from up to down; or scan an imaginary text on the wall from left to right; or look out the window as far as you can following the horizon then return to a point right in front of you and begin again. In this way, you will avoid long term eye problems, you will enlarge your inner space, and relax both your eyes and your mind.

6. How to beat asthma

Asthma partially obstructs the bronchial tubes, making breathing difficult. The cause of asthma is still not known. But if you are an asthma sufferer, you can, through natural means, considerably reduce the number of asthma attacks you get. A placebo study has shown that asthmatics who consume 1 gram of vitamin C per day had 4 times fewer attacks. When they stopped taking vitamin C, the attacks resumed with the same frequency as before (Trop. and Geog. Med., Vol. 32, Mo. 2, 1980).As for magnesium, it also works wonders! Dr. Zack H. Haddad of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Southern California conducted a study on thirty children suffering from asthma associated with allergies. Twenty of them drank a daily amount of mineral water rich in magnesium, while the others received no magnesium supplement. After three months, the first group had a higher level of magnesium in their blood and they were able to breathe more easily. So taking vitamin C and magnesium is an excellent way to prevent asthma attacks. But what can you do to breathe more easily during an attack? Simply drink 2 or 3 cups of strong coffee. By activating blood circulation, it eases respiratory blockage.
In addition, the American Lung Association recommends the following exercise:

  1. While standing, contract all your muscles. Keep them contracted for a few seconds.
  2. Release the muscles, like letting the air out of a balloon. Relax all your muscles completely until you feel like a limp cloth.
  3. Let you fall to the floor, and stretch out. Close your eyes and relax your face and your feet.
  4. Imagine that you are floating on water. Concentrate on the effect the earth’s gravity has on your muscles and on the pleasant feeling of being completely relaxed.
  5. Breathe gently and quietly, as if you were about to fall asleep.
  6. Open your eyes. Practising this exercise when you feel an attack coming on, or once it is already started, will help you overcome your asthma condition.

7. Losing weight: The Pakistani method

Pakistani women have an amazing trick they use to stay slim: they keep a string permanently tied around their forearms. According to Dr. Drupas, a gentle but constant pressure on the nerves in the forearm stimulates certain glands, particularly those involved in weight control (thyroid, suprarenal). Why don’t you try it? Find two ordinary rubber bands and place them around your right forearm, one third of the way up between your wrist and elbow. The rubber bands should exert noticeable pressure without cutting off blood circulation and should not slip or slide when you move your arm. This is not a tourniquet! For best results, you have to wear the rubber bands constantly, even at night when you sleep. It is also recommended not to wear any other jewellery on the right arm.

8. What to do when you get something in your eye

Got some dust in your eye? Or some other irritant like an eyelash or cigarette ash? You can use the following technique to help others as well as yourself. Before doing anything, make sure you don’t do what you absolutely shouldn’t: rub or press the eye, lift the eyelid, or remove contact lenses without washing your hands. How to proceed? · Examine your eye. Is it red? Swollen? Is it tearing? What do you feel? Does it itch? Burn? Is your vision blurred? · Let nature do its work – it is usually effective. Tears and natural eye movements will usually get rid of the irritation. · Try rinsing your eye with some warm water, or with drops. You can pull on the skin around the eyes, but don’t touch the eyelid. · If this doesn’t work, wash your hands, and then lift both the upper and lower eyelids to locate the irritant. Is it on the inside of one of the eyelids, or is it stuck to the eyeball itself? Pour some sterilized, warm water on your eye to flush the irritant out. · If you can’t locate the irritant or if the discomfort persists after you have removed the particle, you would better consult a doctor.

9. A few tricks for treating insect bites

You don’t have to sit back and just passively put up with insects, especially those that like to bite (mosquitoes, wasps etc.). Eat asparagus and your sweat will develop an odour that repels insects. Or apply lemon oil to your skin. If you are bitten, there are natural substances to soothe the irritation. Aloe Vera has extraordinary powers of soothing skin disorders. It is available in forms for both internal and external application in most health and beauty stores. If you have one of these amazing plants growing at home, cut the tip off one of the leaves (the leaf will heal itself). Apply the pulp and juice to the itching or swollen area. Lightly boiled cabbage or leek makes an excellent analgesic poultice. Of course, if you are hiking in the woods, you might have a little trouble finding cabbage! Plantain also works well. Cut it and rub it to get to the juice then apply it to the affected area.

10. How to get rid of liver spots

If you have liver spots, it is up to you to get rid of them. May be you took too much sun, without using the proper precautions like sunscreen, gradual exposure, etc. If you continue ignoring your skin in this way, you might end up looking like a lizard! Liver spots can also result from a thyroid deficiency. The thyroid gland must therefore be stimulated through a variety of means. For example, brown seaweed tablets: take one a day every morning, for fifteen days a month. Or apply a cream composed of 1 teaspoon oxygenated water and 4 1/2 tablespoons lanovaseline every morning and night. Aloe Vera (see previous chapter) is very effective in treating skin disorders. Daily application of aloe Vera over a period of time can eliminate liver spots completely. Also take a look at your nutrition: the real problem might lie in what you do or don’t eat, like a diet too high in fat.

11. Treat diarrhoea without medication

If you have ever been to a tropical country, you have probably experienced diarrhoea: frequent and uncontrolled evacuation of liquid stool caused by bacteria in local water, milk or food. Diarrhoea can also be caused at home by excesses in diet (a diet that is too rich) or an allergic reaction to certain foods or medication or even by stress. To treat diarrhoea, avoid all solid food on the first day. Drink liquids like water, apple juice, meat or vegetable bouillon and tea. These will compensate for your loss of water – dehydration being one of the main dangers of diarrhoea – and will give your intestines a period of rest.
If you have stomach cramps, rub your hands together for about a minute. Then place both palms on your abdominal region. The heat will soothe the pain. On the second day, eat small quantities of solid food. Among the least irritating are cooked cereals (especially rice), biscuits and soft boiled eggs. You can also try charcoal. It comes in tablet or capsule form (you can also get it off burnt toast!) Chinese medicine has always considered ginger one of the best remedies for diarrhoea. Dilute a tablespoon in hot water and add honey.

12. Use seaweed to stimulate your immune system

Japanese seaweed possesses remarkable immunizing properties, especially in fighting cancer. Japanese researchers at the University of Kitasato have discovered 6 kinds of seaweed which inhibit the growth of colon cancer cells in rats, notably two types of Laminaria. Laminaria extract has proven 70% to 84% effective in suppressing intestinal tumours. Wakame, another Japanese seaweed, is now familiar to many Westerners, thanks to the arrival in the west of Japanese macrobiotic cooking, which uses it a lot? Pharmacologists at the University of Hawaii injected rats with an extract of this substance. They found that the seaweed helped prevent and cure cancer. The researchers claim that Wakame fights cancer by activating and strengthening the immune system. It can be found in most health food stores.

13. How to prevent motion sickness – naturally

Did you know that half a teaspoon of ground ginger is more effective than chemical medication in suppressing motion or sea sickness? And unlike most medication, it will not make you drowsy. Ginger has been used in the Orient for centuries to prevent sea sickness. Researchers asked subjects who were especially susceptible to motion sickness to sit in a reclining chair that spun around at high speed. All the subjects who ingested a well known medication or who took a placebo experienced violent nausea and/or vomiting. On the other hand, six of the twelve subjects who took ginger twenty minutes before the test experienced no discomfort. They consumed only 840 milligrams of ground ginger, which is the equivalent of half a teaspoon. The Japanese have a very curious method of treating all kinds of motion sickness. They use an adhesive plaster to fasten an “umeboshi” (a very salty fermented plum, available in most health food stores in the West) to their navel. The idea may seem a little strange, but what have you got to lose!

14. The anti-allergy vitamin

So much has been said in praise of Vitamin C. So it is not surprising that it is also effective in treating allergic reactions like hay fever. We recommend taking Vitamin C in the form of ascorbate rather then ascorbic acid. When taken in ascorbic acid form, it can cause gastro-intestinal disorders. To fight an allergic reaction, you should consume up to 8 grams. 5 grams are necessary, on average. Start with a dose of 3 grams. Every three hours, take another 1 or 2 grams, until the symptoms disappear completely.

15. How to prevent Flatulence (Aerophagy)

Aerophagy results simply from “eating” air. The condition is not dramatically serious, but it does bloat the stomach and can prove embarrassing (stomach gurgles, etc.) How to prevent it? Above all chew your food properly and savour it fully. Swallowing too much is a direct cause of aerophagy. So don’t swallow needlessly. Don’t drink a lot when you eat. Avoid tobacco and alcohol, cabbage, radishes, doughy bread, strong spices and bubbly drinks. Don’t eat food that is too hot or too cold. And pay attention to the kinds of food you eat together: make a note of any combination that seems to provoke an attack and avoid it in future.

16. How to put an end to heartburn

Heartburn usually results from excess acidity in the stomach, or from improper functioning of your digestive system. At the point where the oesophagus and stomach join, a special muscle opens and closes the oesophagus. When we swallow food this muscle relaxes to let the food pass into the stomach after which it closes again. But it can happen that the muscle malfunctions. The contents of the stomach then rise back up the oesophagus, irritating the area. And this results in the infamous feeling of heartburn. How to stop it? Avoid acidic foods (lemons, etc.), alcohol, and fat or fried food, food that is overcooked,  coffee, juice, tomato base products and chocolate. But don’t deprive yourself too much. Rather, observe which foods bring on heartburn and avoid them. Also, don’t go to sleep right after eating (you should eat supper around 7 o’clock) and don’t smoke, especially after meals.

17. A miracle remedy

If we offered you a miracle remedy that prevents cardiac disease, certain types of cancer, diabetes, obesity, tooth decay and varicose veins, would you buy it? Certainly you would. There is such a product. But it is not a recent discovery and you won’t find it in a pharmacy but at the grocery store. We are talking about fiber. A study conducted in Holland on 871 men, over a period of ten years, showed that subjects who had a low fiber diet were three times more susceptible to mortal disease – causes notwithstanding – than those who ate a lot of fiber (Future Youth). This said, it cannot be confirmed at present that fiber prevents the above mentioned diseases in all cases. But there is conclusive proof that they occur more frequently in populations with low fiber diets which is precisely the case in the west. According to The Lancet (the British Medical Journal) a diet which contains at least 37 grams of fiber per day (the equivalent of??? one cup of bran, one apple, one potato and a half cup of cooked spinach) can effectively protect the organism against chronic illnesses common to western society. So fiber is useful in combating many disorders besides constipation.

LOW FIBER FOODS:

Notably white bread (since fiber is removed in white flour), beef, pork, chicken, milk, butter, cheese, sugar, processed meats, desserts, fish, seafood and noodles.

GOOD SOURCES OF FIBER:

  • Fruits: especially apples and prunes.
  • Vegetables: potatoes with their peel, spinach, artichokes, cabbage, peas.
  • Whole grains: barley, whole wheat (you should eat whole wheat bread because of the bran it contains), oats, corn.
  • Nuts: peanuts and almonds.
  • Dried fruit: apricots, plums, figs, dates.
  • Legumes: soy beans, lima beans, lentils, chick peas.
Note that there are numerous types of fiber, and that you should alternate between them. For example, the fiber contained in apples and the fiber in cereals are both essential, since they don’t have the same digestive function.

18. Reducing your cholesterol

To reduce cholesterol:
  • First cut down on saturated fats. To do this:
  • Eat lean meat. Select lean cuts and ask your butcher to cut off the fat.
  • Drink skim milk instead of whole milk. Do the same for all dairy products. Note that vegetarians have a much lower cholesterol level (almost twice as low as average) which is perfectly understandable, since cholesterol is only found in products derived from animals.
  • Alcohol – in moderation. Not more than two glasses a day. However, it does appear that drinking a moderate amount of alcohol raises the number of HDL lipids (the good ones!), which break down cholesterol. (Moderation = two 4 oz. glasses of wine or two 12 oz. beers.)
  • Do regular exercise, for example walking.
  • Take Vitamin E. It reduces the risk of coronary disease.
  • Calcium brewer’s yeast, Vitamin C and Vitamin B-6 also combat the accumulation of cholesterol. And don’t forget lecithin, which helps fight excess cholesterol, arteriosclerosis, and hypertension and angina (as well as psoriasis, anxiety and diabetes – and reduces the likelihood of contracting cancer). Losing weight is a good way to raise your HDL level.
  • Use poly-unsaturated, non-hydrogenated, cold pressed oil: corn oil, sunflower seed oil, soy, flax etc. A mono-unsaturated oil like olive oil can even raise your HDL level.
  • Daily consumption of fish would be ideal for preventing cardio-vascular problems, as demonstrated conclusively in a number of studies on fish-eating populations (Eskimos for example). Ideally, you would eat fish twice a day. And as strange as this sounds, you should select the fattest kinds: mackerel, sardines, herring, salmon etc. As for the oil in the fish, it is used to treat arterial disorders. Its effects can be felt in about six weeks. Fish oil contains two  poly-unsaturated fatty acids which are very beneficial for the arteries.
19. Digest well
There is a plant for each type of digestion problem.
  • AIGREMOINE is useful when the stomach problem is accompanied by enteritis, diarrhoea and/or chronic liver infection. It helps tone a lazy digestive system. And it also helps regularize acidity and soothe ulcers by improving metabolism. 3 or 4 cups a day. 3 1/2 to 4 tablespoons per quart of water.
  • ANGELICA is a digestive, an aperitif, a stimulant, a tonic. It decongests and soothes stomach pains and swelling. Prepare an infusion (tea) preferably using the fresh plant: 3 ½ tablespoons of roots per quart of water. If your stomach is very swollen, prepare and drink 3 cups per day made of 5 tablespoons of seeds per quart of water.
  • ANISE is a soothing digestive. It aids digestion and the elimination of intestinal gas, it soothes stomach cramps, aerophagy, dyspepsia (contractions of the digestive organs, dizziness and a heavy feeling after eating). 2 or 3 cups per day, after meals: 2 tablespoons of seeds per quart of water.
  • CAMOMILE: a digestive, sedative, anti-inflammation agent and tonic. It helps painful or difficult digestion, stomach cramps, gastro-intestinal spasms, loss of appetite, and it helps expulsion of gas
  • (carminative). Particularly recommended for persons who suffer from stomach cramps (and/or who are irritable, temperamental, angry etc.) One cup of infusion, a half hour before meals, or one hour after. To prepare the infusion, add 5 1/2 tablespoons to a quart of boiling water and let stand for five minutes.
  • CHERVIL: digestive, depurative and diuretic. It also acts as a stimulant. For difficult digestion, drink 2 or 3 cups per day. Prepare an infusion with one teaspoon of dried leaves per cup of water, and let stand for 10 minutes.
  • SAGE: The ancients had a saying – “Why die when your garden is full of sage!” It is a digestive, diuretic, antispasmodic and helps combat hypoglycaemia.
  • It stimulates the appetite, fortifies the stomach and aids digestion, especially when digestion is difficult. It is also a general tonic. 2 or 3 cups of infusion per day. 1 1/2 tablespoons of dried leaves per quart of water.

20. Menstrual cramps – suffer no more!

To reduce the intensity of menstrual symptoms, you can change your diet:
  • Less sugar, and slightly more protein.
  • Diuretic foods such as eggplant, cucumbers and parsley can heel diminish water retention.
  • Calcium supplements (1 gram per day) and magnesium (500 milligrams) can help reduce anxiety (always take both).
  • Vitamin B-6 (not more than 50 milligrams per day) can alleviate symptoms of anxiety and tension.
  • Vitamins E and C also help reduce the intensity of cramps.
  • Aspirin has a mildly soothing effect. And once again you can turn to plants to relieve your pains:
  • ANGELICA in infusion: 3 1/2 tablespoons of root per quart of water.
  • MATRIX (derived from the Latin for womb): 2 teaspoons of flowers per quart of water.
  • MILFOI OR YARROW which soothes and reduces overly abundant menstruation: about 5 1/2 tablespoons of flower tops per quart of water.
  • SAGE in infusion: I 1/2 tablespoons of dried leaves per quart of water.
  • In extreme cases, ask your doctor for medication to alleviate pain.

21. Stop catching colds

As much as possible, avoid coming into close contact with infected persons, especially if they cough or sneeze. A person with a cold is extremely contagious: he or she fills the air with fine particles of saliva or mucous which transport the virus microbe. Even if the person is careful to wipe his nose with tissue or a handkerchief, the microbes will be transported to his hands. And studies have shown that these viruses are transmitted through hand contact. So if you have to shake hands with someone who has a cold, you would better wash soon after! What can you do if you do catch a cold? It is useless to take antibiotics: they have no effect on viruses. However, there are certain substances found in alcohol which help decongest sinuses that is why a good hot toddy can work wonders. But take care of your liver: a toddy is just as good with a little rum as with a lot. You don’t have to get drunk to get better. You don’t even have to drink it – just sniff some strong alcohol like cognac or brandy and breathe in the fumes.

22. Use heat to cure

Everyone has heard about how good a sauna feels, and of the relaxing effect of a steam bath which bathes you in hot vapour. But there are other heat treatments which are equally beneficial. Heat relaxes the muscles and ligaments. When applied locally, for example, with hot towels, it can ease muscle spasms. It can also reduce arthritic pain. Heat dilates the blood vessels, which in turn activates circulation.
Applied to a wound, it can prevent infection by helping white blood corpuscles and fresh oxygen surround the area more quickly.

23. How to combat fatigue

First make sure you are sleeping enough. Is your nutrition sufficient? In general women need at least 1200 calories per day and men 1500. Avoid monotony: a varied diet will be more likely to provide the nutritive elements you need to conserve your energy. The sensation of fatigue may be stress-related, especially when you experience emotional stress. Do you feel tense at work or at home? Lastly, don’t neglect physical exercise. Tired or not, get out in the fresh air every day. Walking is the minimum effort necessary for staying in shape.

24. Protect yourself against cancer

Radical liberals are not a political group, but a kind of very active molecule that is suspected of being one of the causes of cancer. How can you protect yourself? Diet plays an important role here, especially in the absorption of anti-oxidants. The strongest  anti-oxidizing agent is Vitamin E, which is found in wheat germ oil and sunflower seeds. Next Vitamin C (oranges, grapefruits, lemons, red peppers etc.).
Beta carotene also absorbs large amounts of radical liberals. This substance seems to act as a protecting agent against most types of cancer. Where do you find it? In red vegetables (like tomatoes), orange
ones (carrots), yellow (squash), and dark green (broccoli). All these are rich in beta carotene. So make them a regular part of your menu!

25. Prevent high blood pressure

Research has shown that people whose diet is rich in potassium (vegetarians for example) are less likely than others to develop high blood pressure. Calcium is also beneficial. Fortunately, potassium and calcium are abundantly present in a large variety of foods. Fruits, vegetables, beans, fish, fowl and lean meats are full of  potassium. Calcium is a little more restricted. Foods rich in calcium usually also contain large amounts of sodium and fat, which can increase  blood pressure. However, moderate amounts of milk are recommended, as wells yogurt, almonds, bananas, grapes, broccoli, potatoes, beans, tofu and sardines.

26. Iron strong health

Without iron, there would be no haemoglobin in the blood. Haemoglobin gives red corpuscles their colour. And it is the haemoglobin that carries oxygen to all parts of the body. If you lack iron, an insufficient supply of oxygen in your haemoglobin will produce sensations of fatigue, headaches and shortness of breath. Men don’t have to worry too much: most men have a reserve of iron stored in their body that could last 3 years ! But women, because of the menstrual cycle, need twice as much iron as men. And the amount is even higher for pregnant women. Vitamin C doubles the amount of iron the body absorbs: so it is a good idea to add a glass of tomato or orange or grapefruit juice to every meal. On the other hand, tea reduces the amount of iron absorbed by 50% and coffee by about 39%.

27. Aging with a healthy body and mind

Did you know that sexual activity can keep you looking good as  you age? Studies conducted in Sweden have shown that elderly people who have sexual partners have much more vitality and a better  Memory than those who do not. So don’t let your golden years deprive you of the pleasures of Sex! Just forget about the obsession of having to “perform” – the final Result is less important than the stimulation itself.

Beauty Tips
Feb 19th, 2010 by Dr.Senthil Kumar

Skin care
Basic skin care does not involve use of expensive cosmetics & toiletries. One has to follow a very simple regime for skin care.
  1. Diet: A well-balanced, regular diet along with adequate amount of water is all that you need. One must avoid the so-called junk food, too much of starvation in the form of dieting & eating at odd irregular hours.
  2. Exercise: about 30 minutes of aerobics, walking, jogging or cycling at least five times a week is essential for a healthy skin.
  3. Sun Protection: UVA & UVB rays could be harsh on the skin & cause photo damage in the form of increased pigmentation, freckles, premature aging & even skin cancers. Those with normal to dry skin can use a sunscreen with an SPF of 15 at least 20 minutes before sun exposure. People with oily skin should use an umbrella or a wide brimmed hat for sun protection.
  4. Local skin care: the surface of the skin contains oil, dead cells, sweat, grime, dirt, grease & pollutants. If this is not removed, the skin looks dull & flaky. Cleansing is an important part of skin care & can be done with simple soaps or cleansers. The skin should be washed at least twice a day with soap & warm water. Deodorant soaps with antiseptic agents are good for oily skin. Super fatted soaps or glycerine-based soaps are good for dry & normal skin. For the skin to look healthy & glowing, its uppermost layer called stratum corneum should contain more than 10% of the total water content of the body. Thus, comes the role of a moisturizer. People with dry to normal skin should use a moisturizer twice a day after cleansing. Those with oily skin should be careful & use an oil free moisturizer only once a day.
Lastly, be gentle on your skin. Do not use harsh cosmetics. If you have a skin problem, seek professional advice.

CLEANSERS
A cleanser is one which removes dirt, sweat, sebum, micro-organisms (bacteria etc.), dead cells (stratum corneum) and make-up if used from the skin surface.
Cleansing comprises of three stages:
  1. Wetting.
  2. Emulsification and removal of grease.
  3. Rinsing.
Deeply ingrained dirt, particularly in the pores of the hair follicles and sweat glands can be removed by warming the skin with hot water or a mild steam bath.
Normal pH of the skin is 4.5 to 5.5, this acidic pH changes to alkaline due to application of cleanser and gives a feeling of freshness in the skin.

Types of cleansers:

  • Soaps and cleansing bars: They are derived from fatty acids and tri-glycerides (fats and oils).
Routine bars.
  1. Deodorant or anti-microbicidal bars:
These have an added anti-bacterial agent to eradicate bacteria. These soaps have a pH between 9 – 10 and may cause skin irritation. They are good for oily skin.
  2. Moisturising base:
These have moisturising agents like lanolin or glycerine. Their pH is between 5 – 7, thus they are non-irritant. They are good for dry skin.
    Functions:

    • Soaps help cleansing, perfume the bath, softens the water, forms lather and gives the skin a cool and fresh feeling.

2. Lipid free cleansers / Face wash:

  • These contain water, glycerine, and acetyl alcohol and do not contain any fat. They clean without soap formation and leave a thin moisturising film. They are good for sensitive and photo aged skin.

3. Cleansing creams:

  • They are oil based products which remove grease and cosmetics on the skin by dissolving it in more oil. They are good for dry skin.

4. Cleansing Lotion:

  • It is a water based product and is good for normal and dry skin. Since it is water based, it can be easily rinsed with water. It is commonly sold as pore cleanser.

5. Exfoliants:

  • Help in removing dead cells (stratum corneum cells) from the skin.

6. Abrasive scrubs:

  • They aid in removing dead cells and control excess sebum secretion. They are mechanical exfoliants made of granules in form of Aluminum oxide, ground fruit pits etc.

7. Cleansing masks / packs:

  • Setting masks – containing Fuller’s earth (‘Multani Mitti’).
  • Peel-off masks – containing gel and latex.
  • Non-setting masks – containing cold cream or oil packs.
Setting and peel-off masks achieve cleansing, exfoliation and skin-tightening. They also refresh the skin. Non-setting masks only clean the skin.

MOISTURISERS
For the skin to remain normal and fresh, the upper most layers, namely the stratum corneum should contain more than 10% of the total water content. In places with tropical climate like India, heat, sun-rays and pollution tend to dry the skin. Thus, use of a moisturiser becomes essential.

Basic components of moisturisers are:

  1. Occlusive oils: They retard water loss from the skin.
  2. Humectants: They increase the water content of the skin by absorbing water from the environment and lower layers of skin.
  3. Hydrophilic matrices: They prevent water loss and have a soothing action.
  4. Others: Water, sun-screens, emulsifying agents, preservatives, fragrances and colouring agents.
  5. Special additives: Ceramides, Vitamins, EFA’s, Aloe Vera, Urea, Lactic acid, Alfa-hydroxyl acids, collagen, Elastin and Hyaluronic acid.
A moisturiser should be used after bath on a moist skin surface. One may even use a sun-screen during the day and a moisturiser at bed time.
People with normal or dry skin can use both creams and lotions which have water in oil emulsion.
Those with oily skin should avoid using creams. Lotions with oil in water formulations are best suited for oily skin.

SHAMPOOS AND CONDITIONERS
Hair is aesthetically a very important part of the human body. All of us desire to have smooth, soft and lustrous hair. This is done with use of shampoos and conditioners.

It is important to understand one’s hair type to make the right choice of shampoos and conditioners.
  1. Normal
  2. Dry: This type may be a result of a. Lack of sebum. b. Environmental factors like sunlight, wind, sea water, chlorinated water (as in swimming pool). c. Chemical treatment like hair colouring d. Mechanical injury such as straightening and perming
  3. Oily or greasy hair: This happens because of excessive sebum secretion from sebaceous glands in the scalp.

SHAMPOOS
Shampoo is a suitable detergent for washing hair, removing sebum, sweat, dirt and dead cells present on the hair shaft and scalp.

TYPES OF SHAMPOOS

A.BASIC SHAMPOOS

  1.  Normal hair shampoos: They achieve good cleansing with minimum conditioning.
  2. Oily hair shampoos: They give excellent cleansing and very minimal conditioning.
  3. Dry hair shampoos: They cause mild cleansing and good conditioning. They reduce static electricity and make the hair more manageable.
  4. Damaged hair shampoos: Meant for hair which have been chemically treated with hair colour, bleaching agents or hair straig
Homoeopathy some Frequently Asked Questions
Feb 13th, 2010 by Dr.Senthil Kumar

Is Homoeopathy slow acting?

  • The pace of action of homoeopathic medicines depends upon many factors. If the disease is of recent origin, the cure should be achieved within a short period. In such cases, if the selection of the medicine, its potency and repetition schedules are correct, then homoeopathic medicines also work quickly.
  • In chronic cases, it takes more time for complete cure. Homoeopathic medicines, if correctly chosen, will never palliate the disease, rather it eradicates the disease permanently and completely, for which it is quite natural that more time is required. Moreover, the duration of treatment is likely to be prolonged if there is negligence on the part of the patient in controlling his diet and habits etc.

Does Homoeopathy first aggravate the disease?

  • After taking Homoeopathy medicines, the patients complaint sometimes may aggravate in certain rare conditions. Firstly, if the patient has taken non-homoeopathic medicines (prior to the administration of homoeopathic medicines), then those medicines might have suppressed the ailments and after application of homoeopathic medicines, some of those suppressed complaints may reappear. In such case, the patient blames homoeopathy for such aggravation. Secondly, when the homoeopathic medicines rightly chosen for a patient, is employed in slightly higher potency (than required), or the patient is basically hypersensitive, then there may occur a transient intensification of the existing symptoms of the patient (Homoeopathy aggravation). But this aggravated condition does not persist for a long time and is followed by cure.

Is it true that tea, onion, garlic etc. are prohibited during Homoeopathic treatment?

  • It is not true that onion, garlic, tea, coffee, paan, alcohol, tobacco, perfumes etc. are prohibited under homoeopathic treatment. But, the substances which may antidote the effects of a particular medicine should be stopped. For example, tea and raw onion may neutralize the actions of Thuja occ., Coffee affects while taking Psorinum and use of camphor is contra-indicated for most of the homoeopathic medicines. So, these items are to be prohibited during use of the respective medicines. But, it goes without saying that homoeopathic medicines would act better in those patients who are non-addicts and when taken in clean mouth, without the influence of any strong smelling substance.

Can diabetics take Homoeopathic pills which contain sugar?

  • Yes, they can take, as the amount of sugar in homoeopathic medicinesis negligible. If necessary, medicines can be given in distilled water also.

Do Homoeopathic Medicines have any expiry period?

  • There are no expiry dates of homoeopathic medicines. But the medicated globules may be rejected when their white colour changes. In case of liquid form, if there is change in colour or sediments are detected, then the medicine should also be discarded. Freshly prepared homoeopathic medicines, in alcohol, have strong smell which gradually diminishes with passage of time. But some patients attribute it to be diminution of their efficacy and do not like to continue those odourless medicines. This is a wrong notion, because the quality of the medicines, existing in dynamic form, remains unaltered. However, it is advisable to store Homoeopathic medicines in a dry cool, covered place away from strong sunlight and strong smelling substances.

Whether other medicines can be taken in emergency?

  • Yes. If in a patient under homoeopathic treatment, an emergency arises, warranting immediate attention, the patient can take other non-homoeopathic medicines. Once the emergency condition is over, he can resume homoeopathic treatment after consulting his physician.

Can homoeopathy treat anything and everything?

  • Like any other system of medicine, homoeopathy has its own limitations. By homoeopathy, any ailment-acute or chronic, local or general can be treated except the diseases where surgery is absolutely necessary. Furthermore, some so-called surgical diseases can also be treated by homoeopathy, like enlarged tonsils, nasal polyps, kidney stones, warts, piles, anal fissure/fistula, tumors of uterus, ovary, breast etc.

Whether Homoeopathic medicines have any side effects?

  • Homoeopathic medicines have no side effects. The term “side affects” of a medicine comes from modern pharmacology. These drugs are aimed at certain area(s) of the body, such as the cardiovascular system, the gut, the kidneys, etc. Though they have a primary area of action, they also affect other areas of the body. If these other effects are undesirable, they are known as adverse side effects. Homoeopathic medicines are not employed against any particular system or organ of the body. Rather, the homoeopathic remedy is chosen on the basis of the totality of symptoms of the patient and targets the patients as a whole. Side effects, such as tissue destruction, do not occur under homoeopathy treatment.

Are Laboratory Investigations required for Homoeopathic Treatment?

  • Although Homoeopathic medicines are prescribed on the basis of symptoms of the patient, laboratory investigations are essential for the purpose of diagnosis of disease, general management of the case (viz. restricting sugar intake in case of Diabetes, high cholesterol diet in case of hypertension, use of collar in cervical spondylitis, change of lifestyle etc.) and for assessing the future course of the disease (prognosis). In certain cases, the laboratory investigations are also helpful in selection of medicines e.g., Worm infestations, Kidney/Gall bladder Stone, fracture etc.

MILESTONES OF DEVELOPMENT OF HOMOEOPATHY IN INDIA
Feb 13th, 2010 by Dr.Senthil Kumar

Travelers, missionaries and military personnels from the West brought Homoeopathy to India as early as 1810. The credit of receiving official patronage goes to Dr. John Martin Honigberger who was called to the Court of Maharaja Ranjeet Singh in 1839 for his treatment. After treating Maharaja Ranjit Singh, Dr. Honingberger settled in Calcutta. This paved the road map of development of Homoeopathy in this country. It was the state of Bengal, which nurtured Homoeopathy in its early period through certain training institutions and treatment centers. The Homoeopathic hospitals in Calcutta were famous for the treatment of intractable diseases. The success of controlling epidemics like Cholera and enduring efforts of several stalwart prescribers helped its acceptance in other parts of the country. During the course of its development in India, it has gained substantial governmental patronage and has vast infrastructure. It is one of the medical systems recognized by the Government of India.

MILESTONES OF DEVELOPMENT OF HOMOEOPATHY IN INDIA

HEALTH-A HOLISTIC APPROACH
Feb 13th, 2010 by Dr.Senthil Kumar

What is Homoeopathy?
The word ‘homoeopathy’ is derived from two Greek works, ‘Homois’ meaning similar and ‘pathos’ meaning suffering. Homoeopathy simply means treating diseases with remedies, prescribed in minute doses, which are capable of producing symptoms similar to the disease when taken by healthy people. It is bases on the natural law of healing-”Similia Similibus Curantur” which means”likes are cured by likes”.

Origin
Over 200 years ago, the German physician Dr. Samuel Hahnemann (1755-1843) discovered the principle that what substance could cause in the way of symptoms it could also cure.

Hahnemann was struck by the effect that certain drugs, when taken by him while quite healthy, produced symptoms that the drug was known to cure in sick persons. For instance, when he took Cinchona Bark, which contains quinine, he became ill with symptoms that exactly mimicked intermittent fever (now called malaria). He wondered if the reason Cinchona worked against intermittent fever was because it caused symptoms indistinguishable from intermittent fever in a healthy human.

Hahnemann continued to experiment, noting that every substance he took, whether a herb, a mineral, an animal product or a chemical compound, produced definite distinct symptoms in him. He further noted that no two substances produced exactly the same set of symptoms. Furthermore the symptoms were not just confined to the physical plane. Every substance tested also affected the mind and the emotions apart from the body.

Eventually, Hahnemann began to treat the sick on the formula ‘let likes be treated by likes’. From the outset he achieved outstanding clinical success.

Concepts and Principles
Law of Similars

It is also called the Law of Cure. This law demonstrates that the selected remedy is able to produce a range of symptoms in a healthy person similar to that observed in the patient, thus leading to the principle of Similia Similibus Curentur i.e. let likes be treated by likes. To given a simple example the effects of peeling an onion are very similar to the symptoms of acute cold. The remedy prepared from the red onion, Allium cepa, is used to treat the type of cold in which the symptoms resemble those we get from peeling onion. The principle has been verified by millions of homoeopaths all over the world.

Single Remedy
Homoeopathic medicines are always administered in single, simple unadulterated form.

Minimum Dose
The similar remedy selected for a sick is prescribed in a minimum dose, so that when administered there are no toxic effects on the body. It just acts as a triggering and catalytic agent to stimulate and strengthen the existing defense mechanism of the body. For this medicines are prepared in a special way known as Drug dynamisation or Potentisation. Drug dynamisation involves trituration for solid substances and succession for liquid substances. Drugs prepared in such a way retain maximum medicinal power without producing any toxic effect on the body.

Holistic as well as Individualistic approach
This is a key point and unique to Homoeopathy. Even though it may sound strange, Homoeopathy does not treat disease per se. A Homoeopath does not concentrate his therapy on, say arthritis or bronchitis or cancer. In other words he does not limit his treatment to painful joints, inflamed bronchi or a malignant growth. Rather, he treats all aspects mental, emotional and physical of the person who happens to be suffering with arthritis of bronchitis or cancer. Homoeopathy regards each patient as a unique individual, e.g. six persons with hepatitis might get a different homoeopathic remedy, each one aimed at the individual’s totality of symptoms rather than at his liver alone. The physicians interest is not only to alleviate the patients present symptoms but also his long term well being.

Vital Force
Dr. Hahnemann discovered that the human body is endowed with a force which reacts against the inimical forces which produce disease. It becomes deranged during illness and the best selected homoeopathic remedies stimulate this failing vital force so that, as Hahnemann said “it can again take the reins and conduct the system on way to health”.

Miasms
Psora, Syphilis and Sycosis are the three fundamental causes of all chronic diseases which afflict the human race as discovered by Dr. Hahnemann and called them miasms. This word is derived from Greek word miainein meaning ‘to pollute’. Psora is present from the beginning to end of life and is the root cause of most of the diseases.

Drug Proving
To apply drugs for therapeutic use, their curative powers should be known. The proving of the drug is the method employed to know these powers and is unique to homoeopathy as they are proved on healthy human beings. The symptoms thus known are the true record of the curative properties of a drug or the pathogenesis of a drug.

Dr. Samuel Hahnemann
Feb 12th, 2010 by Dr.Senthil Kumar

Born in Meissen, Saxony, April 10, 1755. Hahnemann grew up during an era of tremendous upheaval and rebirth in Europe which was centered in Germany with the “Enlightenment” movement, which encouraged freedom of thought and opinion. He was born into a poor family and was taught early by his father never to learn passively but to question everything. Hahnemann later developed his thirst for knowledge into a profoundly deep-reaching gift. He virtually read all medical books previously published, in nine languages.

Dr.Hahnemann became a Medical Doctor in 1791 and practiced conventional medicine for nine years until he discovered, quite by accident, that by his ingesting repeated doses of Chinchona bark (to test Cullens theory on the effectiveness of China in treating Malaria) he would develop the symptoms of malaria, which the bark was used to treat. Thus the first homeopathic proving, and the discovery of the first law of homeopathy: Similia similibus curentur, or “like cures like”. Hahnemann named this newfound therapy “Homeo” (similar) “pathy” (suffering). He began conducting provings with many of the medicines used in allopathy but his methods were met with disbelief and ridicule by his contemporaries.

Although his patients were experiencing profound cures which solidly verified his theories, Hahnemann was marked as an outcast because his method of single and minimum dosage was threatening the financial foundation of the powerful apothecaries. Hahnemann focused on reducing the dose to the point where there were no side effects but he was unsatisfied because this step further rendered the dose insufficient in strength to act. He experimented with a new method whereby after each dilution he would shake the substance vigorously. This he called “succussion” thus developing the energetic aspect of homeopathy. It is unknown how Hahnemann reasoned this (still scientifically unexplainable) method of “potentization”.

In 1810, Hahnemann published the first of six editions of The Organon which clearly defined his homeopathic philosophy. In the same year, 80,000 men were killed when Napoleon attacked Liepzig. Hahnemann’s homeopathic treatment of the survivors, and also of the victims of the great typhus epidemic that followed the siege, was highly successful and further spread his, and homeopathy’s, reputation. Hahnemann taught at the Liepzig University where his lectures would often shift into sharp tongued diatribes against the dangerous practices of conventional medicine, thus nicknamed “Raging Hurricane” by his students. By 1821 Hahnemann had proven sixty-six remedies and published his Materia Medica Pura in six volumes. In 1831, Cholera swept through Central Europe. Hahnemann published papers on the homeopathic treatment of the disease and instigated the first widespread usage of homeopathy which had a 96% cure rate as compared to allopathy’s 41% rate.

In 1834 Hahnemann met the avant-garde Parisian, Mademoiselle Marie Melanie d’Hervilly. They were married (his second marriage, her first) within six months, and settled in Paris. In spite of the fact he was more than twice her age, they remained very intimate, she working by his side in his active practice until July 2, 1843 when Hahnemann died, in Paris, at the age of eighty-eight. This picture was painted by Melanie when Hahnemann was 83.

Homeopathy some Myths and Facts
Feb 12th, 2010 by Dr.Senthil Kumar

1. Homeopathy is slow to act:
It is a myth that homeopathy is slow to act. In acute ailments like fever, diarrhea, acute infections etc, it acts as fast as conventional medicines, sometimes even faster. In chronic cases like diabetes, parkinsonism, psoriasis etc , it may require sometime to eradicate the disease completely from the body and make the body free from any medicines instead of conventional treatments which gives instant relief but the medicine has to be taken life long.

2. Homeopathy has lot of dietary restrictions:
It is a myth that there are lots of dietary restrictions with homeopathic medicines like onions, garlic, coffee etc. There are only few medicines which get antidoted by certain food products nothing applies as a rule and in most cases no dietary restrictions apply.

3. Homeopathy is herbal:
Homeopathy is not herbal as the source of medicines is from plants, animals, minerals, etc. The mode of preparation of homeopathic medicines is totally unique, the medicines are repeatedly diluted and succussed to enhance the inherent curative powers of natural substances. By this method the material quantity of natural substances is reduced to minimal thereby reducing there side effects.

4. Homeopathy only treats certain diseases:
It is false to say that Homeopathy treats certain diseases. Homeopathy medicines have a wide sphere of action on various organ systems of body and are capable of curing most acute and chronic diseases.

Homeo Medicine Treatment Helps to Cure Atopic Dermatitis / Eczema
Jan 20th, 2010 by Dr.Senthil Kumar

ECZEMA / Atopic DERMATITIS
The terms eczema and dermatitis are now used synonymously. They refer to a distinctive reaction pattern of the skin showing a combination of signs which depend on the duration of rash and type of eczema.

CAUSE
Based on the aetiology, eczemas are divided into two basic groups:

1. Exogenous – This can occur due to contact with some irritant or allergen

2. Endogenous – This group contains all other types of which cause and mechanism is poorly understood. Many factors like heredity, hypersensitivity, fungal infection, senile changes, venous stasis etc are implicated in various forms of endogenous eczema.

WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENS?
It is not very well understood. In acute stage of eczema, oedema of the epidermis and intra-epidermal vesicles form. In chronic stage there is thickening and pigmentation of skin.

SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS
Acute Eczema

  • Redness ,swelling, usually with ill defined margins
  • Papules, vesicles, and more large blisters
  • Exudation and cracking of skin
  • Scaling of skin
  • Itching in and around the lesion

 Chronic Eczema

  • All the above plus
  • Thickening and lichenification (a dry leathery thickening with increased skin margins is secondary to rubbing and scratching and is most often seen in Atopic eczema.)
  • Fissures and scratch marks
  • Pigmentation of the skin in and around the lesion

COMPLICATIONS
Super infection – most often with bacteria (staph-aureus) and yeast (Candia). Super infection is encouraged by the use of local steroids.

HOW IT IS DIAGNOSED?
Usually eczemas are diagnosed clinically. Patch test and prick test may be required for allergens.

WHAT TO DIFFERENTIATE FROM?

  • Simple pruritis(itching)
  • Fungal, bacterial, and other infections
  •  Exfoliative dermatitis

CONVENTIONAL TREATMENT
Topical application of steroids and oral anti-allergic drugs form the main stay of treatment.

WHAT ELSE CAN I DO?
Avoid any allergen or irritant that may be causing the problem.

Eczema More Information
Eczema (Atopic Dermatitis) is an inflammation of the skin. It results in itchy, red, thickening and scaling skin eruptions. The dominant symptom is itching, which can be severe. Eczema is not contagious. The most common type of Eczema is Atopic eczema.

Common Causes of Eczema:

  • Inheritance
  • Environmental Factors
  • Specific allergies to foods
  • Secondary infection
  • Wool next to the skin
  • Pet animals (fur)
  • Soaps or detergents
  • Dust mites and pollen

Cause of eczema depends upon the type of eczema the person is suffering from. Eczema is considered to be hereditary. Studies reveal that a person is prone to eczema if his family has a history of closely linked conditions like hay fever and asthma. Irritants like smoke, chemicals, detergents, solvents and so on, can aggravate eczema. Even weather conditions can lead to aggravation of the condition. Excessive stress, heat and emotional stress are other aggravators of eczema. Sometimes blood circulation problem in the leg can also cause eczema. Deficiency of vitamin B6 causes eczema.

Eczema is also called dermatitis. It is a group of skin disorders.

Following are the different types of Eczema:

  • Atopic eczema
  • Allergic contact dermatitis
  • Irritant contact dermatitis
  • Infantile seborrhoeic eczema
  • Adult seborrhoeic eczema
  • Varicose eczema and discoid eczema

Atopic dermatitis is the most common type of eczema. It mainly occurs among infants and small children. In more than 90% of cases, eczema is found to occur in children below 5 years of age. It is a non-contagious disease.

Eczema Symptoms:

  • Following are the symptoms of eczema:
  • Itching
  • Redness on skin
  • Dry and flaky skin
  • Itchy blisters
  • Inflammation on skin
  • Small bumps on forehead, neck and cheek
  • Rough and thickened skin.

Symptoms of eczema are more severe on the folds.

HOMEOPATHIC TREATMENT FOR ECZEMA, ALLERGIC DERMATITIS
Homeopathy offers very good treatment for eczema, but the approach used by homeopaths is very different from that of conventional treatment. Homeopaths usually do not give anything to apply topically. Instead they try to remove the basic disposition/sensitivity to develop such a lesion using internal medicine. This approach not only successfully removes the eczema but also removes the possibility of development of other hypersensitivity disorders like asthma after the eczema is cured. To find the proper remedy a homeopath collects all the past medical history of the person, his/her family history, his/her physical and psychological characteristics etc. All this information helps the homeopath to find a remedy which not only will remove the eczema but will also remove the disposition to acquire such diseases. As a note of caution I would like to add here that after a proper remedy is given the eczema may occasionally (not often) show a mild flare up. This should not worry the patient as it is often considered a good prognostic sign by homeopaths.

But which medicine will work in a particular case can only be judged by a trained homeopath.

In homeopathy method of treatment we have good effective medicines for these complaint, Homoeopathic medicines have no side effects. Long course of treatment is helpful to reduce these problems

The problem varies in degree from slight sadness to the state of being dejected. Depression is a problem that doesn’t appear to be severe but it is worse than any physical ailment.

Cause of Depression
Depression can be caused by environmental factors like emotional traumas or climatic conditions as too little sunshine. Endogenous factors, like hormonal changes or reduction of certain neurotransmitters in the brain also may cause depression. The tendency of being depressed often runs in the family, so there are genetic causes as well.

Changes in hormone levels:

Homeo Medicine Treatment Helps to Cure Chronic constipation
Jan 20th, 2010 by Dr.Senthil Kumar

CONSTIPATION
  • Generally medical books says CONSTIPATION IS THE FATHER OF DISEASE
  • It is true chronic constipation may leads to digestive problems, gas problems, and mental worries,
  • Constipation is defined as having a bowel movement fewer than three times per week.
  • With constipation stools are usually hard, dry, small in size, and difficult to eliminate.
  • Some people who are constipated find it painful to have a bowel movement and often experience straining, bloating, and the sensation of a full bowel.
  • Constipation is a symptom, not a disease. Almost everyone experiences constipation at some point in their life, and a poor diet typically is the cause.
  • Most constipation is temporary and not serious.
  • Understanding its causes, prevention, and treatment will help most people find relief.

What causes constipation?
To understand constipation, it helps to know how the colon, or large intestine, works. As food moves through the colon, the colon absorbs water from the food while it forms waste products, or stool. Muscle contractions in the colon then push the stool toward the rectum. By the time stool reaches the rectum it is solid, because most of the water has been absorbed.

Constipation occurs when the colon absorbs too much water or if the colon’s muscle contractions are slow or sluggish, causing the stool to move through the colon too slowly. As a result, stools can become hard and dry.

Common causes of constipation are
  • Not enough fibre in the diet
  • lack of physical activity (especially in the elderly)
  • Medications( pain medications especially narcotics, antacids that contain aluminum and calcium, blood pressure medications, antispasmodics, antidepressants
  • Iron supplements, diuretics, anticonvulsants)
  • Milk(over drinking)
  • Irritable bowel syndrome
  • Changes in life or routine such as pregnancy, aging, and travel
  • Abuse of laxatives
  • Ignoring the urge to have a bowel movement
  • Dehydration
  • Specific diseases or conditions, such as stroke (most common)
  • Problems with the colon and rectum
  • Problems with intestinal function (chronic idiopathic constipation)

Medical History
The doctor may ask a patient to describe his or her constipation, including duration of symptoms, frequency of bowel movements, and consistency of stools, presence of blood in the stool, and toilet habits— how often and where one has bowel movements. A record of eating habits, medication, and level of physical activity will also help the doctor determine the cause of constipation.

The clinical definition of constipation is having any two of the following symptoms for at least 12 weeks—not always consecutive—in the previous 12 months:

  • Straining during bowel movements
  • Lumpy or hard stool
  • Sensation of incomplete evacuation
  • Sensation of anorectal blockage/obstruction
  • Fewer than three bowel movements per week

Can constipation be serious?
Sometimes constipation can lead to complications. These complications include haemorrhoids, caused by straining to have a bowel movement, or anal fissures—tears in the skin around the anus—caused when hard stool stretches the sphincter muscle. As a result, rectal bleeding may occur, appearing as bright red streaks on the surface of the stool. Treatment for haemorrhoids may include warm tub baths, ice packs, and application of a special cream to the affected area. Treatment for anal fissures may include stretching the sphincter muscle or surgically removing the tissue or skin in the affected area.

Sometimes straining causes a small amount of intestinal lining to push out from the anal opening. This condition, known as rectal prolapse, may lead to secretion of mucus from the anus. Usually eliminating the cause of the prolapse, such as straining or coughing, is the only treatment necessary. Severe or chronic prolapse requires surgery to strengthen and tighten the anal sphincter muscle or to repair the prolapsed lining.

Constipation may also cause hard stool to pack the intestine and rectum so tightly that the normal pushing action of the colon is not enough to expel the stool. This condition, called fecal impaction, occurs most often in children and older adults. An impaction can be softened with mineral oil taken by mouth and by an enema. After softening the impaction, the doctor may break up and remove part of the hardened stool by inserting one or two fingers into the anus.

Points to Remember

  • Constipation affects almost everyone at one time or another.
  • Many people think they are constipated when, in fact, their bowel movements are regular.
  • The most common causes of constipation are poor diet and lack of exercise.
  • Other causes of constipation include medications, irritable bowel syndrome, abuse of laxatives, and specific diseases.
  • A medical history and physical exam may be the only diagnostic tests needed before the doctor suggests treatment.
  • Whenever a significant or prolonged change in bowel habits occurs, check with a doctor.

Treatment
Mind the phrase CONSTIPATION IS THE FATHER OF DISEASE, in allopathic method of treatment they will prescribe laxatives for constipation, continues intake of laxatives produce more constipation and it will dry out the digestive tract. In Homoeopathic method of treatment we will find out the cause of constipation and we gave the medicine according to the cause, it is more effective with out side effect

Homeo medicine treatment helps to relief Bronchial Asthma
Jan 20th, 2010 by Dr.Senthil Kumar

Asthma is a disease in which inflammation of the airways causes airflow into and out of the lungs to be restricted. When an asthma attack occurs, mucus production is increased, muscles of the bronchial tree become tight, and the lining of the air passages swells, reducing airflow and producing the characteristic wheezing sound.

Asthma Information
Asthma is a chronic lung disease in which the person’s ability to breathe easily gets badly affected. It is a health ailment in which the flow of air that takes place in and out of lungs gets obstructed, thus making respiration difficult. Some of the asthma symptoms include coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath and chest tightness.

Here is presented a list depicting a couple of causes of asthma:

  • Air pollution
  • Non-specific hyperirritability
  • Allergy to pollen and dust particles
  • Respiratory infections
  • Certain medications
  • Sulphites in food

CAUSE
According to the aetiology, bronchial asthma is divided in the following groups:

  • Allergic (extrinsic/ Atopic) - This type of asthma usually starts in childhood and is often preceded by eczema. But most of the young adults (<35 yrs) developing asthma also fall in this category. Genetic factors also play a significant role this. In this type of asthma the allergen leads to production of excessive (IgE) immunoglobulin.
  • Infective or Intrinsic - This is not hereditary or allergic, but may be caused by, or at least associated with upper respiratory tract or bronchial infection which is usually viral.
  • Psychological factors (like anxiety, emotional stress etc) are often considered to be the sole cause of some asthmatic attacks, but it is still not certain whether it can be the sole cause or is only a precipitating factor.
  • Occupational asthma - This can occur in certain industries in which there is exposure to metallic dusts (esp. platinum salts), biological detergents, toluene di isocyanate, polyurethane, flour and dust from grains etc.

WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENS?
What ever may be the cause, it ultimately leads to paroxysms of bronchial obstruction produced by widespread bronchial spasm accentuated by plugging of the bronchi with excessive mucus.

SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS

  • Recurrent episode of paroxysmal dyspnoea (difficulty in breathing)
  • The breathing is laboured, with a wheezing sound, mainly on expiration.
  • Asthma attacks often occur in the early hours of morning (when there is no immediate precipitating cause). During the attack patients often prefers to sit then lie down.

HOW DIAGNOSIS IS DONE?
Diagnosis can usually be made clinically by a competent doctor. Allergen sensitivity tests, X-ray, spirometry, sputum and blood tests etc may be of use in finding the cause and severity of the condition.

WHAT TO DIFFERENTIATE FROM?

  • Bronchitis
  • Cardiac asthma
  • Renal asthma
  • Isolated attacks of non-paroxysmal dyspnoea.

COMPLICATIONS
Apart from chronicity, usually no complications.
Pneumothorax, emphysema, or areas of consolidation or pulmonary collapse may occur in very advanced cases.

CONVENTIONAL TREATMENT
Bronchodilators, anti-allergic drugs, and corticosteroids are commonly used to provide symptomatic relief.

LIFESTYLE AND ACCESSORY MANAGEMENT

  • Avoid the allergen you are sensitive to.
  • Do regular light exercise like brisk walking or jogging. Heavy exercise can precipitate an attack of asthma, so always do mild exercise without putting too much strain on your body.
  • Learn breathing exercises to improve your lung capacity. Of especial use is ‘pranayama’, a yoga exercise.
  • Learn some stress relieving exercises, meditation, or yoga to minimize the psychological factors related to disease.
  • Eat healthy, nourishing and well balanced diet.

TREATMENT & HOMEOPATHIC MEDICINES
General Approach – As far as I know homeopathy is the only system of medicine which tries to ‘cure’ this disease, instead of trying to provide symptomatic relief. While dealing with a case of asthma, a homeopath not only records the symptoms of the disease but also studies the medical history, family history, physical and psychological characteristics of a person. This helps to find the cause, the precipitating factors, and the hereditary tendency etc. Of special interest to a homeopath is the history of suppression of skin disease. Homeopaths believe that when there is a tendency or predisposition for a disease – it first manifests on the less vital organs, towards the periphery (like skin). If this manifestation is suppressed than the disease shifts inwards, towards the more vital organs (like lungs, heart, brain etc).

The fact that in children asthma is often preceded by eczema is observed by the allopaths also. This fact is written in all their textbooks of medicine. They say that children often ‘move-out’ of eczema and ‘move-into’ asthma. But they are unable to make a correlation. Homeopaths believe that the suppression of eczema with topical preparations, does not cure the disease/sensitivity of the person, it merely drives it inwards.

Now after ascertaining the symptoms and the cause, the homeopath tries to find a medicine which matches the symptoms as well as the general characteristics of the person. The medicine so selected is administered to the patient.

It is often (not necessarily) observed by homeopaths that when a right medicine is given, the asthma disappears but the old eczema (if it was there originally) reappears for some time, before finally disappearing itself. This reappearance of old symptoms is seen as a reversal of disease process and is considered a very good prognostic sign by homeopaths.

Treatment
Homoeopathic medicines have excellent medicines for all types of Asthma. With out producing any side effect.

Homeo Medicine Treatment for Arthritis-Oesteo arthritis-Rumatoid arthritis-Rumatic arthritis-Gout in Chennai
Jan 20th, 2010 by Dr.Senthil Kumar

Arthritis
Arthritis is a group of conditions involving damage to the joints of the body. Arthritis is the leading cause of disability in people older than fifty-five years.

There are different forms of arthritis; each has a different cause.
They are

Osteoarthritis (degenerative joint disease)
Is a result of trauma to the joint, infection of the joint, or age. Emerging evidence suggests that abnormal anatomy might contribute to the early development of osteoarthritis.

Rheumatoid arthritis and psoriatic arthritis, autoimmune diseases
In which the body attacks itself.

Septic arthritis
Is caused by joint infection.

Gouty arthritis
Is caused by deposition of uric acid crystals in the joint, causing inflammation.

Pseudo gout
This is uncommon form of gout caused by the formation of rhomboid crystals of calcium pyrophosphate.

Signs and symptoms
Osteoarthritis

  • The main symptom is chronic pain, causing loss of movement and often stiffness. “Pain” is generally described as a sharp ache, or a burning sensation in the associated muscles and tendons.
  • OA can cause a crackling noise (called “crepitus”) when the affected joint is moved or touched, and patients may experience muscle spasm and contractions in the tendons.
  • Occasionally, the joints may also be filled with fluid.
  •  Humid weather increases the pain in many patients.
  • OA- osteoarthritis commonly affects the hands, feet, spine, and the large weight bearing joints, such as the hips and knees, although in theory, any joint in the body can be affected.
  • As OA progresses, the affected joints appear larger, are stiff and painful, and usually feel worse, the more they are used throughout the day, thus distinguishing it from rheumatoid arthritis.
  • In smaller joints, such as at the fingers, hard bony enlargements, may form, and though they are not necessarily painful,
  • They do limit the movement of the fingers significantly.
  • OA at the toes leads to the formation of bunions, rendering them red or swollen.
  • OA is the most common cause of water on the knee, an accumulation of excess fluid in or around the knee joint.

Rheumatoid Arthritis
Joints

  • The arthritis of rheumatoid arthritis is due to synovitis, which is inflammation of the synovial membrane that covers the joint.
  • Joints become red, swollen, tender and warm, and stiffness prevents their use.
  • Rheumatoid arthritis affects multiple joints (it is a polyarthritis). Most commonly, small joints of the hands, feet and cervical spine are affected, but larger joints like the shoulder and knee can also be involved, differing per individual. Eventually, synovitis leads to erosion of the joint surface, causing deformity and loss of function.
  • nflammation in the joints manifests itself as a soft, “doughy” swelling, causing pain and tenderness to palpation and movement,
  • A sensation of localised warmth, and restricted movement. Increased stiffness upon waking is often a prominent feature and may last for more than an hour.

These signs help distinguish rheumatoid from non-inflammatory diseases of the joints such as osteoarthritis (sometimes referred to as the “wear-and-tear” of the joints

Gout
Gout (also called metabolic arthritis) is a disease created by a build up of uric acid. In this condition, monosodium urate or uric acid crystals are deposited on the articular Cartilage of joints, tendons and surrounding tissues due to elevated concentrations of uric acid in the blood stream. This provokes an inflammatory reaction of these tissues.

Signs and symptoms

  • Gout is characterized by excruciating, sudden, unexpected, burning pain, as well as swelling, redness, warmth, and stiffness in the affected joint.
  • This occurs commonly in men in their toes but can appear in other parts of the body and affects women as well.
  • Low-grade fever may also be present.
  • The patient usually suffers from severe pain. For example, a blanket or even the lightest sheet draping over the affected area could cause extreme pain.
  • Gout usually attacks the big toe however; it also can affect other joints such as the ankle, heel, instep, knee, wrist, elbow, fingers, and spine. In some cases, the condition may appear in the joints of small toes that have become immobile due to impact injury earlier in life, causing poor blood circulation that leads to gout.

Ankylosing spondylitis
(AS; also known as Spondyloarthritis) is a chronic, painful, degenerative inflammatory arthritis primarily affecting spine and sacroiliac joints, causing eventual fusion of the spine; it is a member of the group of the autoimmune spondyloarthropathies with a probable genetic predisposition. Complete fusion results in a complete rigidity of the spine, a condition known as bamboo spine.

Signs and symptoms

  • The typical patient is young, of 15 to 30 years of age, with chronic pain and stiffness in the lower part of the spine.
  • Men are affected more than women,
  • Ankylosing spondylitis is associated with iridocyclitis causing eye pain and photophobia (increased sensitivity to light).
  • Other common symptoms are recurring mouth ulcers (aphthae) and fatigue.
  • Pain can move or migrate from one side to the other.
  • Early symptoms may occur at a very young age (e.g., 3 years old), when the patient may experience recurring painful joints (e.g. knees, elbows) commonly misinterpreted as simple rheumatism.

Conservative care

  • No matter the severity or location of Arthritis,
  • Conservative measures such as weight control, appropriate rest and exercise, and the use of mechanical support devices are usually beneficial.
  • In OA of the knees, knee braces, a cane, or a walker can be helpful for walking and support.
  • Regular exercise, if possible, in the form of walking or swimming, is encouraged.
  • Applying local heat before and cold packs after exercise can help relieve pain and inflammation, as can relaxation techniques.
  • Heat — often moist heat — eases inflammation and swelling, and may improve circulation, which has a healing effect on the local area.
  • Weight loss can relieve joint stress and may delay progression.
  • Proper advice and guidance by a health care provider is important in OA management, enabling people with this condition to improve their quality of life.

Medical treatment
Usually in allopathic method of medicine they will prescribe NSAID’S along with steroids, these medicines may produce some side effects like obesity, gastritis. In homoeopathic method of treatment we have good effective medicines for these complaint, Homoeopathic medicines have no side effects. Long course of treatment is helpful to reduce these problems

Homeo Speciality Medicine Treatment for Alopecia Areata in Chennai
Jan 20th, 2010 by Dr.Senthil Kumar

http://homeoall.com/alopecia-areata-before-and-after-treatment-photos/

What Is Alopecia Areata?
Alopecia areata is considered an autoimmune disease, in which the immune system, which is designed to protect the body from foreign invaders such as viruses and bacteria, mistakenly attacks the hair follicles, the tiny cup-shaped structures from which hairs grow. This can lead to hair loss on the scalp and elsewhere.

In most cases, hair falls out in small, round patches about the size of a quarter. In many cases, the disease does not extend beyond a few bare patches. In some people, hair loss is more extensive. Although uncommon, the disease can progress to cause total loss of hair on the head (referred to as alopecia areata totalis) or complete loss of hair on the head, face, and body (alopecia areata universalis).

Hair Loss Information
In the contemporary times, people are becoming more and more conscious about their looks. And when it comes to looking good, maintaining shiny smooth hair, undoubtedly, becomes of prime importance. It is here where conditions like baldness, thinning of hair and loss of hair become a cause of concern.

Causes
In alopecia areata, immune system cells called white blood cells attack the rapidly growing cells in the hair follicles that make the hair. The affected hair follicles become small and drastically slow down hair production. Fortunately, the stem cells that continually supply the follicle with new cells do not seem to be targeted. So the follicle always has the potential to re grow hair.

Hair loss symptoms:
·         Hair fall on clothes after combing
·         Gradual appearance of bald patches
·         Receding hairline

Causes of baldness:
·         Lack of nutrition
·         Mental stress and strain
·         Prolonged illness like typhoid, chronic cold etc
·         Lack of personal hygiene like unclean conditions of scalp

Hair Loss a Symptom of a Serious Disease?
Alopecia areata is not a life-threatening disease. It does not cause any physical pain, and people with the condition are generally healthy otherwise. But for most people, a disease that unpredictably affects their appearance the way alopecia areata does is a serious matter.

The effects of alopecia areata are primarily socially and emotionally disturbing. In alopecia universalis, however, loss of eyelashes and eyebrows and hair in the nose and ears can make the person more vulnerable to dust, germs, and foreign particles entering the eyes, nose, and ears.

Alopecia areata often occurs in people whose family members have other autoimmune diseases, such as diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, thyroid disease, systemic lupus erythematosus, pernicious anaemia, or Addison’s disease. People who have alopecia areata do not usually have other autoimmune diseases, but they do have a higher occurrence of thyroid disease, Atopic eczema, nasal allergies, and asthma.

Hair Ever Grow Back?
There is every chance that your hair will re grow, but it may also fall out again. No one can predict when it might re grow or fall out. The course of the disease varies from person to person. Some people lose just a few patches of hair, then the hair re grows, and the condition never recurs. Other people continue to lose and re grows hair for many years. A few lose all the hair on their head; some lose all the hair on their head, face, and body. Even in those who lose all their hair, the possibility for full re growth remains.

In some, the initial hair re growth is white, with a gradual return of the original hair colour. In most, the re grown hair is ultimately the same colour and texture as the original hair.

Alopecia Areata Treatment
Conventional Drugs
The following are some commonly used medicines for alopecia areata. Keep in mind that while these treatments may promote hair growth, none of them prevent new patches or actually cure the underlying disease.
Corticosteroids, Minoxidil (5%), Anthralin (Psoriatic), Sulfasalazine, Oral cyclosporine

Homoeopathic Treatment
Homoeopathic medicines acts best in Alopecia Areata

Some Common Misconceptions about Sex
Dec 19th, 2009 by Dr.Senthil Kumar

Picture

Some Common Misconceptions about Sex

  • The penis can become erect at very early stage, especially in a young man. This does not mean that he is necessarily ready the for intercourse and he may start too soon – before his partner feels ready. She may become anxious as she feels she is keeping him waiting.
  • Vaginal lubrication may remain hidden especially in lying down positions. Both partners may assume she is not responding, when in fact she is. Penis gives a more obvious signal which the vagina may not.
  • Arousal comes in waves in both the man and the woman. This is normal. The decline doesn’t mean that something is wrong.
  • Premature ejaculation (coming too soon, before the partner is ready) is normal in young men, particularly when very much aroused. Control comes with learning and practice.
  • Many women may not have orgasm but are fully responsive. This doesn’t mean that they are frigid.
  • Early sexual relationships may not have orgasms in women. Partners need not worry. Anxiety further inhibits it.
  • The husband snoring one minute after ejaculating can produce resentment if the wife is still feeling the need for intimacy. The men have their refractory period (time during which sexual arousal is difficult) very fast. Woman need not feel upset (as if being used as a sleeping pill) – you can wake up your husband sometimes and let him know.

Foreplay
Dec 19th, 2009 by Dr.Senthil Kumar

Picture

Foreplay
Foreplay is that *Thing* you’re meant to do before you get down to business.
Why am I telling you this?

I don’t know. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that a recent survey found that 70% of Indians have little or no idea about what foreplay is or rather, what it has the potential to be.

For the uninitiated, foreplay consists of all the actions involved in the seduction of a partner;

  • Kissing,
  • Caressing,
  • Stroking,
  • Nibbling,
  • Sucking,
  • Kneading,
  • Massaging,
  • Nuzzling,
  • And yeah the list goes on.

In short, it’s the lead up to, and the big fat line between ordinary and mind-blowing sex.

Foreplay is not only fun, it’s also essential for the creation of a mood. Unlike men, who are visual creatures and can get turned on by the mere sight of a woman’s naked body, women respond to sounds, touch and most importantly, to suggestion. Hence, foreplay is more about teasing suggestion than overt sexual gestures. A woman who is not aroused will find sex a painful and unpleasant experience and so it’s important for your man to take his time during foreplay to get you ready for what’s to follow. Similarly, if you want to come away feeling smugly like you was the best he’s ever had; you need to spend more time on perfecting the art of foreplay.

Few great foreplay moves
(Guaranteed to lead to the best sex of your life!)

  • Prolong the ‘making out’. Kiss, cuddle, or even play around. Giggle, laugh and tussle in bed, on the sofa or wherever you are. Don’t get all serious and hot and heavy too fast. When you can look into each others eyes, with your hair all tousled, and your cheeks flushed from giggling, sex is a hundred times more beautiful.
  • Massage each other. Remember it’s about the relaxation and the unwinding of the muscles. Let your partner feel the stress of his/her day melt away under the skill of your fingers. Only when you feel that they are in that nice intoxicated state of comfort, do you snap them out of it with something more ahem…unexpected!
  • Zero in on all your partners erogenous zones. To put it simply, pamper those places on your lover’s body that gives them most pleasure. Tease, touch, kiss, nuzzle or lick, but keep them wanting more. Don’t make any sexual overtures yet. Suggestion is the sexiest part of sex! For instance, if you’re kissing your lover’s feet, move onto the inside of the ankle and calf. Nuzzling, softly biting, licking and kissing the ears, nape of the neck, behind the knees and the belly works wonders because of the ultra sensitive nature of these parts.
  • The chest/breasts can be fondled and kissed to great advantage! You can even be inventive and use props like feathers or silk scarves to blindfold or tantalize your partner.
  • A last but not least  word of advice; Before you embark on this wonderful journey, set the mood by turning down the lights, lighting some candles and playing soft music. Wear clothes that caress and cling and wow your lover like he’s never seen before!
